Veteran 'Boat Renovation Project' Sponsored by International Paints
Former Northumberland Fusilier and Aden veteran Dusty Miller has kindly donated his much loved fishing boat to the veterans accessing the support of Forward Assist. Steve Jackson is coordinating the restoration project and volunteers for Forward Assist in his spare time. Steve and Dusty served together during the Aden crisis in the late 60's and are still in touch via the Aden Veterans Association. The restoration project will allow younger veterans to work alongside older combat veterans who can then share their personal experiences and wisdom whilst learning and sharing new skills. The project is being sponsored and supported by International Paints who will provide expert guidance and specialist materials to ensure that the boat is restored to its former glory. This inter-generational restoration project will allow veterans and their families to take part in a fun recreational activity and we will be teaching veterans basic seamanship and coastal navigation as part of the project.
