Forward Assist Veterans Take part in the Virgin Money Cyclone Event to raise funds for Walking With The Wounded
Six Armed Forces Veterans from Tyneside are taking part in the annual 'Virgin Cyclone' Cycling Event which will take place at the end of June to raise funds for the 'Walking with the Wounded' Charity. The veterans have all benefitted from the support given by North East based 'Forward Assist' over the last six years, with two of the vets pictured having benefitting from a trip to the USA in 2010 & 2013.
The veterans are led by Simon Kristiansen a former Royal Marine Commando and past New Zealand Junior International Athlete. Simon now works for Forward Assist as the charity's Sports Development Lead and has organised participation in several other sporting events to boost the participant’s confidence, mental wellbeing and physical fitness. Thirty Forward Assist veterans are travelling to France later in the year to take part in WW1 commemorations and other therapeutic sporting activities. Simon, to his credit, is planning on cycling to France to raise much needed funds for Forward Assist.
" We are delighted to be raising funds for Walking With the Wounded as it is truly one of the most forward thinking Veterans charities operating in the UK today"
