Forward Assist Veterans Angling Academy take 'Launchpad' Vets Sea Fishing 2014.
Forward Assists 'Veterans Angling Academy' 'cast off'' in 2014 with three fantastic angling trips organised for veterans old and new! Ed Turnbull a highly experienced and qualified North East Angling Coach facilitated the trips during the first month of the year and is pictured with Veterans from the Avondale House Veterans Charity 'Launchpad' based in Byker. The budding Anglers are wearing the woollen hats knitted for them by the wonderful women from the Killingworth White Swan Centre 'Knit & Knatter' group.
This year’s angling project will see the team focussing on weekly angling trips that will include sea, coarse and fly fishing in the UK and abroad. Group members (veterans) will gain recognised coaching qualifications and using their newly acquired skills deliver angling sessions to underprivileged, disadvantaged or marginalised groups under the supervision of Ed Turnbull and Dave Munt. Angling trips for all participants will include trips to France, Scotland, Brighton and Deal in the South East of England.
Ed Turnbull, founder of 'Fishing North East' has been contracted to deliver this exciting and innovative project on behalf of Forward Assist.
"...everyone managed to catch fish, albeit on the small side but the screams of joy from the lads was brilliant, you would think they had caught Moby dick!"
