Forward Assist were delighted to be asked to open the new Starbucks Coffee Store in Kingston Park Shopping Centre in Newcastle upon Tyne. Forward Assist were given this rare honour so that they could promote the unique collaboration between Starbucks and Forward Assist. This innovative North East Charity helps Veterans of all ages make the transition back to civilian life after military service. Starbucks & Forward Assist are piloting a unique training programme that will allow unemployed veterans to train as Starbucks Coffee Barista's in stores across Newcastle. At the end of the training the Veterans will be guaranteed an interview and some may be offered jobs if they have shown commitment and vacancies are available. Neil Tully is pictured at the opening ceremony and can be seen cutting the ribbon. Neil works for Forward Assist as a specialist employment consultant and is funded by the Walking with the Wounded Charity (WWTW) to ensure unemployed veterans are given every opportunity to gain employment after service life. Becca Haigh (Store Manager Gateshead) said “We are delighted Forward Assist could take this opportunity to showcase their fantastic work and I am really looking forward to the Veterans Training Course which will start in the next month or so. I am sure it will be life changing for the Veterans that take part!"
