'Convergys' staff raise £150 for Forward Assist 'B Company'
Convergys staff at Quorum Business Park have kindly raised £150 so that the veterans at Forward Assist can continue to learn the art of urban bee keeping. Forward Assist bought a bee hive and the necessary specialist equipment needed to keep bees after receiving a grant from The Lily Matthews fund in 2012. One veteran has since completed a 10 week course in the art of Bee keeping but unfortunately the adverse winter weather conditions in 2012 led to the ' B Company' bee colony collapsing and all the bees dying. The veterans were devastated at the loss as they had hoped to be harvesting honey at some point this year and had become quite attached to their industrious charges. The apprentice Bee Keepers are mentored by Tony Turnbull himself an armed forces veteran and owner of '3 Mile Bees' and this funding will ensure we can continue to develop and expand the 'B Company' 'not for profit' social enterprise.
